Pastor Frank Jr. was raised in a Christian home and became a pastor’s kid in 1982 when his father entered ministry. Though taught the Word of God, he was more drawn to the world than the church. Even after a supernatural call to be a pastor at 16, he resisted and continued living a worldly life. At 22, God brought him to the end of himself, and Frank cried out to the Lord, surrendered, and embraced God’s calling. His life changed quickly, and within a year he married his wife, Nicole.
As they built their family, Frank worked, pursued ministry training, taught Bible studies, and led youth. He was ordained by his dad in 2002 and became associate pastor at Berean Calvary Chapel in 2010, where he still ministers, now as the head pastor. He also serves as a chaplain for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at a motocross camp and as board pastor for the local FCA director. Frank loves motorcycles, golfing (badly), and—most of all—time with Nicole and their children: Taylor, Madison, Frank Lee, Luke, Mallory, and Brooke.
In October of 1997 the Lord called Pastor Frank Sr to resign his pastorate and his ordination in the denomination he had loved and served for seventeen years to plant a new church, Berean Calvary Chapel.
For about eighteen months the new church held services in two different locations in the Syracuse area. After about eighteen months, Frank Sr. stopped into a local contractor’s office to inquire about their, “Build Your Own Home” program. After explaining that the church was newly incorporated and had no collateral, Frank asked, ‘what would it take to build our own church’?
Having overheard the conversation the owner of the business walked up behind Frank and said, “I have 34 acres I’ll give the church”. Frank accepted his offer.
This was how the Lord led and provided the means to secure a loan to build the church.
In February of 1999 the tiny fellowship gathered on the property in Kirkville and Frank Sr. and Elder Ken Marquart broke ground for the new building. BCC held its first service at its present location in the summer of that year.
Frank Thomas Sr. served as head pastor of Berean Calvary Chapel until the Lord called him home in 2024. His son, Frank Thomas Jr., now faithfully carries on that role as head pastor.
